What do you do to avoid truth?

Uncategorized Jul 27, 2020

What do you do to avoid truth?

We all do this. We do things, say things to avoid the truth.

Sometimes the truth is too much that we unconsciously block them, or avoid them, or we just don’t want to see them because the truth is not acceptable by our peers, by society or by our family.

We dishonour ourselves and our inner truths to please the world, which leaves us hollow and unhappy.

Have you experienced this? I am sure all of us have, at one time or another.

Sometimes, acknowledging the truth means we need to take responsibility for things and situations for how things have turned out. We don't want to think that we caused the pain, the suffering or the destruction. It is so much easier to blame others.

Sometimes, acknowledging the truth makes us feel stupid and foolish, and so we want to avoid it because we just can't bring ourselves to eat the humble pie. But the thing is, it will eat us from the inside, leaving a gaping hole of misery.

Sometimes, speaking the truth means alienating others, it means irritating and triggering others. Well, the thing is, it still doesn't change what the truth is. If we avoid speaking the truth for fear of alienating others, we end up alienating ourself.

Sometimes, accepting the truth of the matter within our heart makes us think we look weak, when the reality is, it takes a person of courage to accept truth within one's heart.

Sometimes, truth as we see it is seen differently from another's perspective. And it is ok because truth has many sides and they are all true.

Sometimes, we avoid the truth, because the illusion gives us comfort, the fantasy gives us a false sense of security because we find life far too much, far too challenging. And so we keep on entertaining the illusion, until life tears it down giving us no choice but to face reality.

Sometimes, we avoid the truth by seeking the opinions of others, we look for someone else with the same perspective as us, making it ok for us to stick to the lies we tell ourselves.

Sometimes, we think we are the only ones with the truth, thinking others are living a lie. And that in itself is a lie.

Sometimes we avoid the truth because we are hopeful for better outcomes because we think that if we even entertain that thought, we will somehow wish the "better outcome" away.

Most of us, we avoid truths because we are afraid of losing control. Somehow truth can make us feel disempowered momentarily, as it takes us deeper to who we are and the reality of situations we have found ourselves in. And if we take that opportunity to feel deeply, acknowledging our feelings and emotions, and we heal, the truth can set us free.

Ask yourself today: what truths have you avoided for far too long because it is time to take back your power.
